UPDATE

Road Improvements Begin Wednesday

Lanes on U.S. 31 and Hobbs Street will be intermittently closed starting Wednesday, July 28, for  Midtown Centre access improvements. Lane closures will occur off and on over the next two weeks as the contractor makes improvements at the U.S. 31/Hobbs Street intersection.

Expect Road Closures

Madison County District Four crews will be replacing 2 cross drains under the road near the addresses of 4296 and 4346 Elkwood Section Road in between Old Railroad Bed Road and Wall Triana Highway, in the northern portion of Madison County.

Repairs will begin at 8:00am on Wednesday, July 28.  Work should be completed by 4:00pm, weather permitting.

Traffic will limited in this area of Elkwood Section Road most of the day on Wednesday.  Lane closures will occur at various times throughout the day.

Drivers are urged to use an alternate route, if possible and to use extreme caution while workers are in the area.

Fire Strikes Ardmore Avenue Building

 

Firefighters from Ardmore, Elkton and Elkmont answered a call to 30476 Ardmore Avenue Friday, July16, 2021. The Thrift Store, leased by Randall Lucas, is located in a building owned by Ted Barnett. Ardmore policemen Brandon Crews, center left, and Ryan Cole, in front of building, responded as well.

Total damage to the inventory is estimated to be approximately $6,000. Total damage to the building is unknown at press time.

The cause of fire currently appears to be a box fan.

Gypsy Jewels,owned by Cheyenne Barnett reported minor smoke damage. No damage was reported to any other business.
